Swimming pools:
"My view on pools is that they should be an integral part of the garden design, not hidden away, but a well lit water feature at night and, during the day, reflecting light and surrounding images. Avoiding bright blue tiles at all costs, my pools are the colours of the sea I knew as a boy in New Zealand. Along with the pools, I design pool houses with showers, saunas and changing space. Organic shapes are great, but British pools are nearly always rectangular as they need to be covered with rollover covers to trap heat and protect from dirt. But bold planting of grasses and perennials add to the style and dark pebble surrounds give a beach like effect."
