Roof Garden,
Chelsea, London:
"Weight considerations are an inevitable restriction in creating a roof garden. In this design, lightweight decks form two spaces - one an extension of the kitchen dining space, the other a small sunbathing area with an unusual water bowl. Olive trees in large pots are lit with blue LED lights and tall zinc planters form the basis of the garden's Mediterranean planting scheme. Spaces between the decks are filled with wood chippings which have the look of slate chips but are a fraction of the weight. Views of London are an enviable feature of this garden, but the painted wooden screen creates privacy for dining and sunbathing."
