'The redesign of an old garden can be a lot harder to achieve than a blank canvas. But when you have beautiful views and a superb setting, then my motto is 'keep it simple'. I try to let the eye drift to the view and put the garden in the picture like a stage set in the foreground. This garden has many walks to maximise the space and a spring wild flower garden which becomes a wild flower walk later in the year. A restricted planting colour palette and clipped green architecture also adds to the simplicity of the design.'
